I find it odd when people now-a-days re-interpret Peanuts as a irony-filled pessimistic-based humor. I bet kids now read this particular comic and find it funny, because Charlie Brown is being “cool” by being pessimistic. I’m not sure that’s the original intent. Isn’t Schulz painting Brown as someone simply depressed? Not as someone that’s so cool that he’s cool above all other forms of cool?
This particular strip would make a good cultural study for the differences of intrepretation over generations.
